Short version: We do missions not because of the commands in the Bible to do so (and there are many commands to do so) but because missions reflects the very heart and nature of God.

Longer version: We went to Austria out of obedience to the Great Commission and that was good. We were there for 31 years before we realized there is a better reason to do missions. God is by nature a missionary and we do missions to reflect his heart and nature. We also do missions so that all peoples may worship only Him. This also has an effect on how we see people. We do missions not just to see people saved (and being saved is very good!). We also do not do missions just to see people delivered from alcohol, etc. (and such deliverance is also very good!). But we also do missions so that people will worship the one and only and true God. This to me seems to put our goal with people on a higher plane as we seek to help people get aligned with God and His purpose for them.

Joe and Calla Jean,
Thanks for the post...I know we talked before that it will be early 2010 before we could get you behind the microphone so lets keep looking at possible dates.
