How needy are Brasilian men in local churches for someone to invest intentionally in their lives?
It is my belief that many men in our Brasilian churches are only nominally involved in the local church due to the fact that they have not been truly discipled by the leadership nor helped in their own specific areas of need. - masculinity, male identity in Christ and the family of origin issues that are yet unresolved in their lives.
I don't know much about the resources. But how much literature is available in Portuguese to help men develop their personal identity and as leaders in the home?
THe amount of literature available for men has grown somewhat over the past few years, but it is still scanty
However the real need is first in having men step up and offer to be involved in the lives of other men by meeting with them in informal and formal settings for discipleship. The Lord has placed into our hands the Mens Fraternity material from Little Rock Arkansas, but there has not been a great response as yet from churches who want to get involved in discpling other men. We are however planning a training retreat weekend for November to show lay men the Influencers material of Rocky Fleming from Rogers Arkansas. The hope is that those men who attend will return to their local churches and begin to invest in other men in a one year committment to a closer walk with God.
