Welcome!

This group is for those interested in medical missions throughout the world, both medical personnel and those with a heart for this outreach. Through this group we hope to foster some good discussions on medical mission issues and provide a platform to share what God is doing.

I'm thinking that people who work in medical missions are either a) perfect people and never make mistakes or b) too busy to blog about their mistakes! Be encouraged folks, and keep on doing good things.

My top three were:
1) THinking that more resources would change the situation of those in poverty.
2) Taking at surface value the by-in of those who were wanting to be involved in the project or changes that we were trying to make. There are other motives of why people get involved and I was a bit naive about what people wanted out of their participation. Finding the right partners is worth the wait - rushing in to get the "job" done is not worth ending up with the wrong people running the project.
3) Spending money well is sometimes the hardest part of making sustainable changes in a community.

I could go on... I've probably made a majority of the mistakes that can be made. But they have been good learning experiences. I think that compassion ministry is more learned that way than by a book.
