Teaching cultural adaptation to Journey Corps

Teaching cultural adaptation to Journey Corps

Ten Journeyers have arrived in Côte d'Ivoire to begin a year of missionary apprenticeship. The leadership team asked Glenn and Linn to spend three days (Nov. 22-24) teaching them cultural adaptation principles.

It was really encouraging to get to know the pilot Journey Corps kids -- they are deeply devoted to Jesus and yearning to learn what it is to do mission in West Africa. We taught principles, did demonstrations of skills, tried to give them several frameworks to use in their own cultural learning. One hit was practicing holistic worship, dancing to the balaphones ("Noah, get into your boat!") and to paired Nyarafolo drums ("I long for you, Jesus!). After classes there were games, like frisbee and football throws to the top of the water tower at Village Baptiste. And we loved getting to know Peter and Katrina Goehring of the leadership team, as well as Nema Diakité (who grew up in Ferke), even better.

OUR VISION

We see people of all nations transformed by Jesus Christ through partnership with his church.
