A Little bit of everything =)

You have to understand that I am a totally random person at the best of times so forgive me if I do not always make sense or go in a logical order (it may be too much to ask) but do feel free to post questions or e-mail them to me. I know it has been a while since I have posted but I feel I have a decent reason and hopefully you will agree. At exactly 2 weeks after arriving in Bolivia on a Tues during class I was sent home cause i started crying when the teacher asked how I was doing. Now… Continue

H1N1 in Hungary

Magyar news says the H1N1 virus is on its way here. A couple of schools have been closed in Hungary. The Ukraine has been hit hard, about 1 million infected and 180 dead according to Hungarian news reports. Neighboring Austria reports about 10,000 cases. The next couple of weeks should be interesting. Thankfully we were able to receive both the regular and the H1N1 vaccinations-- a great blessing.

Winning

"Winning is everything."

"Nice guys finish last."

"The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat."

No, I'm not talking about my beloved Phillies, even though this will be a tough year to listen to all those Yankee fans crowing about number 27. I'm actually thinking about the Apostle Paul when he wrote these words,

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such… Continue

Communion crises = )

Church on Sun. was my first real moment in Bolivia of oh no what am I going to do and the funniest part is that it had nothing to do with culture or language difference it all came down to my oh so fun gluten allergy. Near the end of the church service they brought out the juice and bread for communion which is a very normal thing except as I am sitting there in the pew I have a flash of realization that I can't eat bread now I know this and I am not sure why it took me so long to figure out… Continue

On Tasseled Grass and Finishing Well

This afternoon, fallen stalks of dry grass crunched under my feet as I wended my way out to the gravesite, following the crowd through old fields via a kind of path. Next to us the grass grew shoulder high, purple tassels dipping from the tips, and just beyond the denuded corn stalks dried where they stood.

As for mortals, their days are like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. (Ps.… Continue

Christians Still Die and There is Religious Persecution in Mexico

Christians Still Die And there is Religious Persecution in Mexico

On October 13th, I had the honor and privilege of presenting information about Religious Persecution in Mexico at the VOM/USA office in Oklahoma, for the first time representing our own office, VOM en Mexico. Actually getting there was the battle... on the way to the border in San Luis Colorado, where I planned on visiting my daughter Jaimee and grandson Lonney Ray (pictured here with the Lion), my wallet will all my… Continue
