You have to understand that I am a totally random person at the best of times so forgive me if I do not always make sense or go in a logical order (it may be too much to ask) but do feel free to post questions or e-mail them to me. I know it has been a while since I have posted but I feel I have a decent reason and hopefully you will agree. At exactly 2 weeks after arriving in Bolivia on a Tues during class I was sent home cause i started crying when the teacher asked how I was doing. Now normally that would not get me sent home but I was exhausted for no apparent reason and was feeling sick. I found out the next day that I had gotten a fairly common stomach bug here that you get from the water (and no I am not drinking the tap water). The Dr made a house call and gave me a prescription for an anti-biotic but the first round did not work so I spent the next few days in bed and could not make it to class for the rest of the week. the following Mon the Dr came and gave me some new drugs which have been working great so I am much better now. Thank God for good drugs and Drs. who make house calls. Then last week on Wed. I went to Uyuni with a group from language school as a chance to vacation/see more of the country and culture. It was definitely one of those trips where you are so tired after it that you need another break but what an amazing opportunity to see God's amazing creation. I will save that story for another post as I have more to say about that and don't want this to get to long.
So I was kind of dreading Thanksgiving tomorrow as it is my favorite holiday and a bunch of my family is getting together (all the nerve they are getting together w/o me I guess life goes on). I found out today that my soon to be host family is having Wendy (the other single girl here with WorldVenture), Hans & Lindsay (who have been here 6 months and are in charge of Wendy's and my orientation) and I over for dinner tomorrow so I will not be stuck in my room feeling sorry for myself all day like I was afraid of.
The next few months will consist of full time language school and a little bit of visiting some different ministries. Wendy and I will be moving in with our host family soon and will hopefully be getting our visas extended fairly soon after our original ones expire. There is no way to get my visa extension finished before my 1 month visa expires so you just pay a small fine and go from there.
This summer (the Bolivian summer is like Nov-March) I will have the chance to help teach crafts to kids in an orphanage during their break and I am wanting to visit a ministry called Helping hands which teaches women how to make hand crafts that are then exported and sold to help them make a living. I really enjoy making things with my hands so something like that will be perfect for me to check out.
I hope you have a chance to check out the pictures I uploaded from my trip, the world is mind boggling and just beautiful and this little piece of it is no exception.
