U.N. ReportAccording to a September 14 report from the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), flooding in Pakistan is still ongoing: 1) The emergency continues to unfold in the southernmost province of Sindh. Additional towns and villages in Dadu and Jamshoro districts have been flooded in recent days, as Manchar Lake breached its banks. 2) The health cluster warns of an increased risk of malaria, particularly in the south, in the coming days and weeks. 3) New towns and villages were inundated in Sindh’s Dadu and Jamshoro districts over the weekend as Manchar Lake overflowed. Floodwaters entered Jhangar and Bajara towns, near the southern bank of the lake, on 13 September. Water supplies to Sehwan tehsil in Jamshoro were reportedly cut on the same day, due to possible contamination.
Sindh Province, where WorldVenture workers are located, is among the most heavily impacted regions of the country, with approximately 7 million people affected and over one million homes damaged or destroyed. Our efforts, which have brought relief to thousands, originate out of Shikarpur and the hospital (SCH) at the northern end of the province where the flood waters divide, and cover the length of the affected districts from Shikarpur to Hyderabad and Thatta in the very south. To read the OCHA report and for a map of the affected areas of Sindh, go to:

The Latest from HyderabadWe’re feeling the impact of the flooding in Thatta here in Hyderabad. We received an urgent call from an associate in Thatta predicting that water would be reaching Thatta City within a number of hours. Many Soomros (people group) have migrated into the Thatta area in the last three days (400 in one area, 200 in another). A representative came to solicit help for feeding and caring for these new arrivals.
Medical Personnel & Helpers Needed!WorldVenture is gearing up to send two medical teams to work with our medical practitioners at the hospital (SCH) in short-term blocks through mid-September to the end of October. Each team will need a male and female doctor (or provider), two nurses, a team leader/coordinator and a cook/laundry helper. The teams will be used for mobile medical camps where determined they can be most useful. For more information on the medical teams, click here:
